About the Artist

Drawing and painting have always been important to me but have becomBNeideffere my passion in retirement.  During my lifetime, my balance of family, job and the daily grind depended on drawing and painting classes of all types and mediums.  After working in mainly oils for over twenty years, I now prefer soft pastels and colored pencils.   Art classes and workshops include basic design, anatomy, landscape, portraiture, charcoal, drawing, watercolor, pen and ink, and oil.  A pastel workshop with Maggie Price gave me the desire to start painting everyday.  The brilliant color of pastel is perfect for the glorious beauty of the southwest. Other pastel workshops include Doug Dawson, Stephanie Birdsall, Albert Handell, Phil Starke and Ned Mueller.

Colored pencils workshops include Larry Charles, Cecile Baird, Linda Lucas Hardy, Ann Kullberg, Gemma Gylling, . Surfaces for pastel and colored pencil paintings include Wallis Sanded Paper, Ampersand Pastel Boards , UArt sanded pastel paper , Art Spectrum Sanded Pastel Paper, Strathmore Bristol and Suede Mat Board.

My paintings have been exhibited at many places in the Phoenix and Tucson areas.  I am a member of the Southwestern League of Fine Arts (SLFA) , the Tucson Colored Pencil Artists Association (TCPAA), the Colored Pencil Society of America (CPSA), the Pastel Society of America (PSA), the Tucson Plein Air Painter's Society (TPAPS), the Tucson Pastel Society (TPS) and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance.
